Shear Behavior of Continuous Reinforced Concrete Beams |
Abstract |
As a part of studies to investigate the effects of distributions of shear force and bending moment on shear behavior, experimental studies were made on the continuous reinforced concrete beams of small-scale model. In these experimental studies, the variable is the ratio of shear span to effective depth and the characteristics of continuous beams without web reinforcement are reported in this paper.By investigating the positions of inclined shear cracks and the shear strength according to a/d, we concluded that the shear span of the continuous beams was a quarter of span of these beams. Moreover, the reserve strength of these beams was not very large when the ratio of shear span to effective depth was 2.5 and below. This result can be explained not only that there was not bearing force at the point of contraflexure but also that actual shear spans of these beams was increased. |
