Abstract In this paper an automated drafting system is suggested. This system basically uses three methods: integration of data among different architectural drawings, parameter method, and powerful copying function of a computer.The system uses the data embedded in a siteplan to construct block plans and elevations. The data, which are related to a unit plan and necessary to construct block plans and elevations, were provided by the user when he or she inserted a simplified block plan into the siteplan. The data are extracted and block plans and elevations are constructed automatically according to the data. During automated unit elevation drafting procedure, parameter method is adapted. Using this system drafting time is reduced to 1/10 dramatically.This research also suggestes a possible way to integrate CAD systems through data exchange between different drawings.
