Abstract Korean construction industries are facing critical challenges both in domestic and international market. Industrialized building constituents undoubtedly apprear to be ones who should seek the ways to cope with these crucial situations. This paper presents the findings from the surveys and the analyses of actual data on the performance defects in recently constructed industrialized apartment housing in contrast with conventional RC apartment housing. The servey indicates that the residents in PC apartment housing complain the most of noise, water leakage, and condensed moisture. The analyses of the actual data, however, indicate that no noticeable difference in performance defects due to water leakage and comdensed moisture is found in PC apartment housing whereas the defects in noise levels were not quantitatively measured for reasons. They indicate that the turnover in some building performance defects in PC apartment housing versus RC apartment housing in 1992 is due to rather resource unbalance such as shortage in skilled-labor supply and material, poor workmanship, of lack of quality management than short of construction technologies in PC apartment housing.
