Abstract The objectives of this study are 1)to analysis thediverse opinions and arguments on the traditional expression elements in the public cultural facilities from 1960's till now, 2)to rearrange the arguments point on the most frequently argued of the object, 3)to formation the basic view-point for the presentation the method and alternative on the traditional expression. The results are summarized as follows; 1)The evolution on traditional arugments of the 1960's argued expression for criticism and the trend of thought with local colour or national color, and from the 1970's, it begin to appear the arguments on the modern a result by the form and transformation of traditional architecture, and from the 1980's on the space, site plan, material, and, recently, the way to succeed the traditional of new form. 2)The traditional arguments on the public cultural facilities argued the elements, which expressed the order a system-proportion, composition style, space organization-base on the modern spirit, and especially, there were relatively many debates on the three-divided system and elements (platform, colum and roof) 3)The essential feature of the arguments in almost of cultural facilities was that roof, which means they tried to make a subject of roof as a traditional expression in order to succeed the tradition.
