Title |
A Formal Analysis of the National Museum, Gong-ju |
Abstract |
I have focused my study on the architectural composition of the National Museum Gong-ju designed by the architect Lee Hee-Tae in 1973. The formal analysis has led me the following conclusion: First, it is supposed that two main design concepts- 'Box-shaped major space elevated on pilotis' and 'Nine-devided space of longitudinality'- are based on the analysis of the site and the program. Second, through the logical proces the architectural composition can be explained with two design concepts, and the contraction between the concepts and elements can be also indicated with them. Third, the use of the modified traditional ornaments and the matreial should be analysed in its relation with the architectural composition. The contents of the analyses are represented by the conceptual drawings in each stage. |
