A Study on the Location Characteristics of Cheongju Subcenters |
Abstract |
This study has the objective of finding the location characteristics of CBD and subcenters in Cheongju city which is now experiencing rapid urban expansion. Empirically accepted CBD and 4 subcenters in Cheongju city are selected for study area. The location quotient(LQ) and Buinding density(Geonpaeyul, Yeongjukyul) are used as study indexes. The study results are as follows. First, the degree of intensity of centural business function which is inelastic from urban center with respect to distance is high in CBD, the degree of intensity of general business function which is relatively elastic from urban center with respect to distance is high in subcenters. Second, the transition function which is located in outskirts of CBD and also known as the second concentric area by Burgess's concentric theory is founded out to be located as principal function in subcenters. Restaurants, lodging function, and community function ect., are found out to be located intensibly in subcenters. In the mean time, the average Building densities of subcenters are calculated as follows, Geonpaeyul is 45% and Yeongjukyul is 115%. The methodology and process of this study could be utilized as basic data in the practical process of reorganizing urban structure with emphasis on the area having nodal point as a secondary CBD of existing city. |
