Abstract It is necessary to calculate the initial and operating costs for optimal air conditioning system. For these goals, calculating heat loads is required which is a basis of estimating them. A new simplified method using Calculating Table for saving the time has been developed. The goals of this paper is to complete a more simplified Calculating Table at the stage of basic plan in air-conditioning, which can calculate maximum heat load with ease, using the calculating program HASP8001 with average meteorological data for Pusan under unsteady state. Furthermore, in this paper it is possible to calculate peak heating, cooling loads in several areas by seeking the locality ratios based on Pusan. With considering this method, the locality ratios in other areas can be obtained without any difficulty. In this paper the more simplified Calculating Table with average meteorological data was proposed to find air-conditioning loads easily for several conditions. In addition, locality ratios on some cities were found for simple calculation of air-conditioning load. The heating and cooing load could be obtained by multiplying the locality ratio by air-conditioning load of Pusan.
