Title |
Ontological Crisis of the Representation of Modern Architecture |
Abstract |
The history of architecture, at least for the last two hundred years, was the problem of formal representationof form. With the growing interest in science and technology, the process toward formal freedom and economical presentation of architecture, nonetheless, seems often to have been proceededcontrary to our intention and will. On the other hand, from the middle of this century, instead of creating a new architectural order of form, the direct reference to historical styles and methodological analysis of socio-cultural meanings became a criteria of design as a final object of our intention. Today, these uncertain processes of formalization and symbolizationhave become a source of the dilemma of contemporary architecture, and finally a paradox to a progress of architecture. |
