A Study on Residential Environment and Location of Commercial Facilities in Residential Area. |
| Abstract |
The main purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between commercial facilities and residential environment. The three main findings are listed as follows.1) Since street furniture not only occupy foot-traffic space but also degrade urban landscape, it is necessary to build clear permit standard.2) Residents evaluate commercial facilities in residential ares as necessry facilities. However, they show strong resistance if the facilities locate near their house.3) Therefore, in residential site planning, it is recommended that the commerical facilities are allocated in the central part of residential ares. Nevertheless, commerical facilities which do not affect negatively on living environtment can be located at road-sides. |
