A Study on Space Planning for Children`s Room |
| Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to the objective standards of a space design for school children's room.The major findings were summarized as follows:1) The mean size of contemporary school children's room was 3.2pyong and that of ideal room was 6pyong.2) Necessary furnitures with which more than two-thirds of childrens want to furnish were desk and chair, bookshelves, bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, computer, bulletin board. Necessary furnitures for different ageswere found to vary. For the grade 1-3, the furnitures for play were required, where as for the grade 4-6, the furnitures for study were required.3) The colors of contemporary school children's room were white, pink, yellow, red, blue, those of children's favorites were yellow, white, blue, pink, light purple.4) The motifs of contemporary school children's room were plants, lines, geometricla figures, figures from cartoons or fairy tales.Boys preferred vehicles and space science, while girls preferred plants, sky scencery and the others for their children's room. |
