Title |
Daylight Prediction and Evaluation in a Toplighted Atrium Using Computer and Scale Model |
Abstract |
Daylighting is often used to supplement of eliminate the artificial lighting. In this study, SUPERLITE computer program and scale models are used to simulate the center atrium of the existing building. Both overcast and clear sky conditions are simulated. After simulations, computer and scale model data are compared with actual measurements made in the atrium space. In the low-rise toplighted atrium buildings, computer calculations are closely related with scale model data and actual measured data. Therefore, SUPERLITE program can be used for the prediction of daylight in the low-rise atrium space. However, it is necessary to recognize limitations of software. In the atrium design process, computer program and scale models need to be used simultaneously in order to simulate daylighting properly. |
