| Abstract |
This thesis aims at studying on a method of selecting the design and competition types. An architectural design competition is one method of finding a design of quality. There are four different types of competition which vary according to whether the promoter is aiming for: ideas, a project design, and a project design with a financial bid. For each of these four generic types there are variations in the degree of detail required in submissions, and in the number of stages in which the selection is made.The Competition process is readily adaptable. It can generate a wide array of solutions to a variety on design problems. Competition formats can be modified to accommodate most project requirements. The first question to be addressed is what the competition is for. A second question to be examined is eligibility. A third question is phasing of competions, the steps and time sequences that are employed. |
