Abstract It has been thought that there are mary meaningful languages which are metaphorically melted in the Korean traditional architecture besides the aesthetic, functional, and structural values.The contents of this article are to comprehend the inter-relationships of architectural forms and meanings, to define the characteristics of metaphor and symbolism in architecture, and to study the Korean traditional architectural languages and their metaphoric symbolismThe purposes of this article are to study the architecture as a language, to find out the factors which make the Korean traditional architecture more valuable, and to search out the traditional metaphoric techniques which are applicable to modern architectural language.
