Abstract The seismic response analysis was performed to examine the characteristics of nonlinear response of high-rise building structures. These structures was modeled by shear building type, and subjected to recorded and simulated ground accelerations. Based on the results of this analysis, an empirical formula in regard to design shear force distributions and design base shear coeffecients was obtained by exceedance probability.It is concluded that the proposed design seismic force are valid to preliminary earthquake resistant design of high-rise building structures subjected to random force such as earthquake excitations.
