Abstract The objective of this study is to evaluate the flexural buckling strength of high strength steel beam-columns and to compare their buckling strength with design codes, such as LSD of AIJ, LRFD fo AISC, Eurocode No. 3 of ECCS and steel structure design code of Achitectural Institute of Korea. H-shaped section, box-type section, and circular hollow section are discussed in this study. And 60 kg/mm2 class and 80kg/mm2 class steels are used for high strength steels, The buckling strength of centrally loaded compressive members were tested and were discussed in reference 2. The flexural buckling strength of high strength steel beam-columns are assessed bynumerical analysis used axial force, moment and curvature relationships. The analysis method is discussed comparing analysis results with test results of reference 6. Beam-columns of high strength steels areapplicable to Eurocode No.3 and are insufficient to apply to LSD and LRFD. But it is important to decide nominal values proper to LSD and LRFD code. And it seems that the AIK code has too much safety factor compared with analysis results.
