A Study on function and state of construction of `Lue` in Hyanggyo architecture |
| Abstract |
This paper studying about 'Lue'(2-storied building) which is in Hyanggyo(local school annexed to the Confucian shrine), understands the meaning of 'Lue' from imspecting the functionof 'Lue' and finds the state of construction. In Hyanggyo, the function of 'Lue' combines the general function of enjoying scenery with the supplementary function of teaching.'Lue' was constrcted irrespective of the size of village and there is 'Lue' in every village which is larger than county, in the case of Youngnam province. Analyzing the regional distribution of constructing 'Lue' reveals that Youngnam province has 55 'Lues' which occupy 61.1% of all. And it is found a distint regional characteristic from which the most of Hyanggyo in Youngnam area was 'Lue'Judgin from the chronological state of construction, 'Lue' was constrccted in largest number in the 15th century and most of it before the 17th century. |
