An Empirical Study on the Remodeling of Housing Space Pertaining to the Socioeconomic Change in Kwang-Ju City |
Abstract |
Present study is to identify the remodeling types urban housing pertaining to the socioeconomic change. The variabel determining remodeling of housing were measured in three sample areas of Hak-Dong, Im-Dong, and Duam-Dong through an investigation of residential floor plan types.The total residential remodeling rate of three areas was 90.9% in last 40 years, which showed an average remodeling rate of 23% in every 10 years. The main remodeling type per area revealed 40.6% of expansion type in Hak-Dong, 40% of addition type in Im-Dong and 36.1% of integration type in Duam-Dong.In data analysis, it revealed that the six variables, such as, number of family members, number of households, total income, education, number of rooms, and designated living space per family affected residential remodeling types significantly. These six variables could largely be divided into three, family life cycle, standard of living, and residential space. Thus it seems that interaction among these variables may affect the residential remodeling type significantly. |
