Abstract The purpose of this paper is to study the plans for exterior space of Villa Madama. It has been carried out through the analysis of original designs on it. The results of study are as follows; 1. In the general planimetry, the building is centrally located and in close connection with exterior spaces. 2. The most important element of organization for exterior spaces is a system of ways which ascend and descend the stairs of various forms. 3. The plans constituted in various geometrical forms - circle, square, rectangle, racecourse, ellips, octagon, etc. - is disposed, modifying the existing land sloped. 4. In a close correlation with the architecture, the constituent elements for exterior spaces are derived from the Roman architecture, in particular Roman thermae.
