Abstract The purpose of this study is to estimate of the yield strength and structural behavior of H-shaped steel beam-to-concrete filled SST(steel square tubular) column connections reinforced with inner diahragm with opening through the simplified models subjected to tensile force. In the analysis on the connection reinforced with inner diaphragm and infilled concrete, yield mechanism in SST column wall and inner diaphragm is assumed according to the yield line theory. Yield strength of this connection with inner diaphragm can be estimated by adding the yield strength of SST column wall to that of inner diaphragm derived from the yield mechanism. As a result of the test, the infilled concrete is effective to prevent out-of-plane deformation of the column wall and to resist shear force in the diaphragm.
