Abstract The purpose of this study is to get basic planning data in new elementary schools through the analysis of the school law and space of modernized elementary schools. The Method of the study is to analyze the present condition of school law and to understand a driving process and planning data of modernized elementary school and to compare area distribution and spacial organization of modernized elementary schools(Korea) and foreign school(England & Japan). The results of the analysis are as follows:The rate of circulation area in modernized elementrary school whcih are shown in [the standardization plan of schools] is 35.4%, but in case of English schools(after 1954) it is only 7,7%. The comparison of modernized elementary schools with foreign schools in terms of school area per student shows similarity. However, it is found that there are differences among modernized elementary schools, English schools and Japanese schools in terms of the eductional areas; 1.8m2, 2,75m2 and 3.3m2 respectively. Therefore it is necessary to increase the real educational area by reducing the circulation area of the new schools in future. The spacial organization in new school should be flexible in order to adapt to rapidly changing educational enviromnment and to new needs of the future education.
