A Study on Sarims` inclination and the space composition in Soewon Architecture |
Abstract |
This study aims to bring the gradational space composition into light as a study on Yungnam Sarims' inclination and the achitecture of Soewon. Consequently it has reached the following conclusion after choosing and analyzing the Achitecture of Soewon which enshrines schools of Yungnam school and Giho school as the main sacrificed rite.1) In the early period of Choson dynasty, Sarims secluded themselves because of the ideological opposition to Hungu and absorbed themselves in studying and educating their juniors. As that result, the village schoolhouse and the cloister truned into Soewon, which were established to enshrine ancient sages and deceased teachers sacrificed by political confrontation.2) Liqi theory controversies diveided Sarims into Julipa and Julipa built Soewon as two-dimensional space composition for study and religious service, while in Jupipa its achitecture was centered on one-dimensional space composition which integrated two fruntions into the equal relation.3) In Yungnam regions education-centered Soewon was built in a good landscape, which in Giho regions its space composition was centered on the function of religious service in the fixed place connected with ancient sages. |
