Abstract In the regions of joints in the building envelope, a multi-dimensional heat flow occurs. These regions are apt to be thermal bridges, and often referred to as thermal anomalies. To evaluate the thermal performance of these regions, the multi-dimensional nature of the heat flow in these regions should be analyzed acdurately and easily.In this study, the features and the accuracy of two grid systems(central face method and central node method) with FDM(Finite Differential Method) were evaluated.According to the results, the grid system with central node method can easily handle the nodes at surfaces, edges and joints of diffrent materials. The grid systemwith central node method can make the geometry modelling and the computer programming easier than the grid system central face method.
