Confinement Effectiveness of Transverse Reinforcement on High-strength R/C Columns under Uniaxial Load |
Abstract |
The objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the strength and ductility of reinforced high strength concrete columns subjected to uniaxial loads. To assess the behavior of high strength concrete, eleven columns with the cross section 15cm X 15cm, 13cm X 13cm and concrete compressive strength 420 kg/cm2 were tested under monotonic uniaxial compression up to failure.The main variables are volumetric ratio of tied steel, tie spacing, and the longitudinal steel ratio, tie configuration, cover concrete.Test results indicated that the amount and the detail of transverse reinforcement do significantly affect the ductility behavior of high strength concrete columns and the longitudinal steel ratio is consider as a variable which influence the behavior of R/C columns. |
