Abstract This study aims to bring the arrangement type into light as a study on the arrangement of Hyangkyo architecture according to the confucian order rule. Consequently it has reached the following conclusion after choosing Hyangkyo as the research object according to the times, the regional groups, the locational surroundings and the local government organization.1)In the early period of Choson dynasty, the normative, ceremonial arrangement of Hyangkyo was made by the composition of central axis. In the middle period, the space composition was carried out by the specialization of central axis. Then in the late period the simple type centered on the space for religious service came out.2)In Youngnam provinces, Hyangkyo had the divisive space for study and religious service, while in Honam provinces it showed the form that above two functions were integrated into one space.3)According to the locational surroundings in a level land, the conception of front and rear, which was based upon 'Ye Salutation" of the confucianism inhered in its space. In a sloping land, the orderly conception of top and bottom, right and left inhered in the gradational space composition.4)The architecture scale and the space composition of Hyangkyo became dissimilar by establishing the gradation in confucian shirne, a student teacher and slaves according to the rank of the local government organization.
