The Facade Typology of Traditional Urban Housing |
Abstract |
This Paper propose the system for preservation and succession of traditional urban housing might be applied for urban policy making process using the distribution characteristics of facade typology. For doing that, at first, we have surveyed and analysed the existing style and the pattern of traditional urban housing located in the historical center of Seoul.As the results, we have classified the traditional urban housing style to 5 basic and modified types which are turned out to be dominants through extensive research on historical types of facade and its modifed style considering the space structure of facade, the combination of facade detail factors, location characters, and materials for making traditional urban housing look alike.Moreover, we found that there are numerous factors are implied not just the historical changes of building style but also location limitation in the era of construction, social factor like road expansion, renovation for usage changes, managing capitals through space reallocation under a roof and multi-generation residency, and superannuation structures itself among the various structures as considered traditional urban housing. |
