A Study on the Factors of the External Environment and Environmental Identity in Apartments |
| Abstract |
In accordance with heightening of housing needs and improving the quality of life, environmental identity is becoming gradually important requirement in the construction of the residential environment.This research defines the concept of environmental identity through documentary review and werifies empirically the factors of the external environment in apartments through the field survey.The environmental identity is analyzed by the characteristics of the residents(SES, life cycle, residential experience, environmental personality, etc.) and environmental factors(natural factor, social factor, construction of the apartment sites, neighborhood, economical factor).Findings indicate that the environmental identity seems partly to be dependent upon characteristics of residents, but to be more related to the environmental factors. The environmental identity is the most closely correlated with social factor of the environmental factors. The more socio-economic position ranks high, the more variety of the environmental factors are required to increase environmental identity in apartment sites. |
