A Study on the Actual Condition of Fire Safety in High-Rise Apartment Buildings |
Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to survey the fire safety conditions of high-rise apartment buildings. To understand the existing problems of high-rise apartment bulidings in this study, residential circumstances were investigated through questionnaires, observations and records of the representative four high-rise apartment buildings.The results of the study are as follows;1) Residents' ways of thinking about a fire escape and their concern about a fire were different according to the height of their residences.2) According to the building types, residents in the tower type building are afraid of suffocation by smoke, and those in other types fear of death from pressure in stair halls or difficulty of escape.3) The evaluation of fire safety has only recently been made in high-rise apartment building design. |
