Title |
A Study on the Physical Evaluation Indicators for the Landscape Impact Assessment |
Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to suggest physical evaluation indicators and allowance limit of them for Landscape Impact Assessment(LIA). There are many physical indicators, i.e., viewing distance, location of landscape control points, color, texture, size of structures, etc. However, this study focuses on the relative size of buildings. The major findingas are as floolws:1) In case of urban landscape, if the height of a building is equal to the mean height of surrounding buildings, or a little bit higher, the value of scenic beauty is highest. And if the width of a building is wider than that of surrounding ones, it is desirable that the height of it is not higher than that of surrounding ones.2) In case of natural landscape, a building whose width is small and height is lower than that of background skyline has highest value of scenic beauty. And if the width of a building is long along the background skyline, the height of buildings is not higher than of background skyline, are the value of scenic beauty is a little higher.3)According to these results, the allowance limits are suggested in three levels ; acceptable, acceptable only after design review of Landscape Impact Assessment, and unacceptable. |
