Abstract The objective of this study is to investigate the seismic performance of frames with semi-rigid connections. The effect of semi-rigid connections on the dynamic response of frames was investigated analytically by performing second-order, inelastic, time-history analysis. Typical unbraced eight-story frames with rigid and semi-rigid connections were analyzed for two ground accelerograms. Their responses are categorized in terms of (a) time vs, roof story drift, (b) story shears, (c)story displacements, (d) interstory drifts, and (e) column ductilities. The frames with semi-rigid connections showed good seismic performance.
