Title Response Characteristics of Torsionally-coupled Buildings with Tuned Mass Dampers

Abstract In the companion paper, modal characteristics of tosionally-coupled buildings using tuned mass dampers are investigated. It is found that the modal characteristics are closely related with some non-dimensional parameters such as eccentricity ratio of building rigidity, mass ratio of building and tuned mass damper, the uncoupled torsional to lateral frequency ratio, and location ratio of tuned mass damper. In this paper, the response characteristics are studied based on the modal characteristics shown in the companion paper. It is found that tuned mass damper, properly located in the building plan, controls the torsional response as well as the lateral response.
