A Study on the Development of the Evaluation Criteria for the Construction Safety Performance |
Abstract |
One of the effective measures for the prevention of construction accidents is to enhance the safety management. The function of evaluation is critical for the successful management, and is also true for the construction safety management. However, any measurement method directly applicable to the contruction safety performance is not available yet because of the transient nature of construction work itself. This study aims to develop simple and useful evaluation criteria for the construction safety performance irrelevant to the kinds of construction projects and the progress of works both. The proposed evaluation criteria for the construction safety performance is derived from the principles of industrial accident prevention, the nature of the construction work itself and the statistic features of construction accidents, The proposed criteria is proven effective through the experimental applications to the major construction firms. |
