| Abstract |
This study aims at understanding of architectural thinking process in the light of a cognitive experiment. An experiment of a residental design is conducted ofr protocol analysis. And a cognitive model of design process is proposed, which describes the general cognitive procedure of the designer. Evidence collected from the protocol analysis is abstracted the following results: First, design knowledge of the problem domain which makes it easier to define the problem in certain building type context plays the most important role in the early stage of design activities. Second, the working knowledge of the designer is generated by means of activiting the design information and plays the most important role in the stage of design activities. |
