A Study on the Limit Analysis of Frames |
| Abstract |
Many methods to calculate the collapse loads of frame structures have been developped based on Linear Programming. But, it is hard to get the collapse loads of large structures by these methods. A new method for the limit analysis of the plane frames is proposed. The Proposed Method used the Direct Method as an analysis tool. Formulation of Truss and beam elements based on Direct Method is performed. Two Examples are solved by the proposed method. The collapse loads obtained are compared with the solutions by Linear Programming. Both methods give nearly identical collapse load factors.However, the proposed method is based on Jinite Element Method, and can be used to calculate the collapse loads of general structures. |
