| Abstract |
This study aims to verify the visual elements of the collective-figures and propose the townscape design approach for multi-family housing area. To achieve this purpose, the architectural characteristics of collective-figures in multi-family housing areas are catagorized and the visual preferences are tested.The outcomes from this study are as follows:Firstly, the collective-figure images can be catagorized 3 types according to horizontal and vertical dimensions. The images of collective-figures are mostly depend on the slopes of the site, the intentions of designer, the combinatorial ways of open space, the skylines and the view blockage.Secondly, the useful design principles for townscape design approach are (1) the applications of differentiated zoning ordinance according to the location of the site, (2) the use of slender rather than massive building type, (3) the insurance of the depth and the width in view, (4) the spaciousness between buildings. |
