Abstract Generally, most high rise buildings are framed with steel structures and there are many problems due to the poor quality of this important structural welding, because either its field or factory welding can cause more uneconomical labor cost, more labor injuries, due to the stiffeners against web buckling.Only one fundamental way to remove non-homogeneous poor quality causing its structural failure is to get rid of the occurrences itself by reducing a scope of work at factory & field. This study shows how to substitute those stiffness for strain & stress capacity, displacements of beam with traperzoidal web section in order to find out the optimal design criteria.Test pieces are composed of web thickness 3.2mm, upper and bottom flange THK 13mm, width of flange 150mm and depth of beam 300mm. But there are three different shapes of web: a2 318a1=318 with 100mm welding at the deflection point: 50mm welding: all line welding with 100mm web opening at one third of depth 300mm & half of depth 300 mm.
