Title |
A Method for Selecting Principal Items of Quality Management through the Defect Analysis in the Construction Process |
Abstract |
Most of heavt losses in the construction prjoects result fromunnecessary reworks. Those reworks are due to design faults or construction defects. A pre-quality management may reduce the rework losses by preventing the occurrences of construction defects. In order to effectively perform the pre-quality management during the construction process, it is required to select the quality management items which are directly related to construction defects. The purpose of this research is to propose a method for selecting the principal items of quality management through the defect analysis at the construction phase. At first, the research defines five factors for the effective quality management, which include production process, quality costs, feedback, statistics, and standardization. Then, based on the quality factors, the research describes the estimating procedure of the rework losses and develops a model to determine the priority of the quality management items associated with the defects. The model enables construction personnels to readily select the principal quality items for establishing the quality management plan. |
