Abstract Recently, the shortage of labor in the construction field has critical. Especially, the shortage of labor concerned with constructing formwork is comparatively prominent. So, the rationalization of formwork is necessary under current conditions. Related to this situation, deck plate for the forms used in building floors is used for reducing construction time resulting in improvement of field workability.Nowadays deckplate is widely used not only in high-rise buildings but also in medium-rise buildings. Especially, flat deckplate which has a flat upper side, and stiffened lower side is widely used to proceed construction work easily.In this paper, the basic mechanical behavior of flat deckplate is studied, and a new-type flat deckplate with improved structural performance over conventional flat deckplate is proposed. Loading tests of conventional flat deckplate and new-type flat deckplate were executed, and maxium load and deflection of conventional flat deckplate and new-type flat deckplate are presented. Also, the comparision of test results between conventional flat deckplate and new-type flat deckplate is made.
