A Study on the Development of the Accident Classification Systems for Construction Industry |
Abstract |
One of the charasteristic features of construction accidents is the repetitions of similar accidents like falls, electrocutions, collapse of temporary facilities etc. The utilization of past accident records can be the most effective measure for the prevention of repeated occurrence of similar accidents. However current construction accident records aren't dealt enough to provide construction managers with relevant accident records directly applicable for the various specific work conditions. The root cause of such inconvenience is originated form the present improper classification systems of accident informations basically oriented to the manufacturing industry. This study aimed to develop the construction accident classification systems in which the practice of construction project execution and the dynamic nature of construction work itself are incorporated, which enables the construction manager to easily refer past accident records according to the work progress and the resources involved thereof. |
