A Study on the Plan-Types of Urban Traditional Housing in CHOENJU |
| Abstract |
This study is to analyze and to categorize the typologicla characteristics of urban traditional houses remained so far in Kyo-dong and Pungnam-dong of Choenju city. The urban traditional houses in Cheonju city is subscribed as the output of evolutionary procedure, which is to say, the urbanization of traditional farm houses around the city and is transformed to have such an unique character of its own. The survey concludes with four types of urban traditional houses in Choenju city and explains that the most common types of - shape and shspe are congruent with traditional farm houses in its character. But nevertheless, it is proved that the procedure of urbanization resulted in the uniqueness of its spatial composition. Therefor, it is evident that the urban traditional housing in Cheonju city can be differentiated from traditional farm houses and also from those of Seoul city. If this study has any significance, that is in its comprehensive aspect which enables to understand the generality and the speciality of urban traditional housing in the context of those remains in other Korean cities through the analytical methodology of type. |
