Abstract The regions of joints in a apartment building envelope are apt to be termal bridges. To improve the insulation of these regions, optinal insulation details should be applied. In this study, optimal plane in sulation details of the rear wall joints are suggested after the evaluation of surface condensation and their life cycle costs.In the optimal plane insulation detail of the household partition wall-balcony exterior wall joint, insulation mortar(thickness : 20mm, width : 360mm)is installed, In the optimal plane insulation detail of the kitchen-bedroom-balcony exterior wall joint, rock wool is extended by 300mm. As a result, the effects of thermal bridging are reduced and their life cycle costs are minimized.
