Title |
Automated Design System for Bolted Connections of Steel Structures |
Abstract |
Many recent research in developing structural design sustems have focused on element-level properties of structures. As a result, few systems for connections which affect the strength and preformance of overall structures were developed to provide safe, economical, and desirable design results. These connections, however, requiring a lot of efforts and much time in design, steelwork erection, and maintenace in building industry, need to be automated. This study automates design processes of connections for H-shape sections of beams and columns is steel structures, which are connected by high-tension bolts. To manipulate such information of connection componets, their attributes, and relavant design methods effectively, this study used an object-oriented programming with CLOS(Common Lisp Object System). Using this system, users can acquire the safety for the connection part and the economic and desirable design what they want, saving much time and labor. And also, the textual and graphical output information for the connection being designed could be utilized for the work of bill-of-materials, manufacturing, and shop drawings. |
