A Study on Psychological and Physiological Effects of Fear of Being off Ground in Super-High Rise Apartment |
Abstract |
This study was conducted to evaluate psychological and physiological effects of fear of being off ground in super-high rise apartment buildings. The field survey was conducted into three categories according to the height. Subjective psychological and physiological effects was measured by questionnaire, electrocorticogram(EEG) and blood pressure. The measured results can be summuried as follows;1)`astonishment' and `anxiety' were increased slightly as the height level goes up in the subjective appraisals.2)Beta-wave in EEG, which shows the mental activity was dominant in the floors between 14th. Blood pressure increased from the 14th floor.It was demonstrated from this survey that the psychological reaction appears to be clearly different from the 14th floor. |
