Abstract The objiective of this study is to investigate the structural behavior of concrete-filled steel tubular column under axial compression. The principal parameters in this study are the ratio of length-to-diameter(L /D=4, 8, 12, 18, 24, 30) and the strength of concrete filled in the steel column (f =210kg/cm , f =500kg/cm ), or not filled. The concentrically compressed experiment of 36 columns was conducted. Then we estimated the ultimate strength of column through the numerical analysis based on the beam-column theory and compared the results of the numerical analysis with those of experiment. Finally the results of experiment were compared with the standard formula of foreign nation and Korea.
