Abstract The purpose of this study is to present the improved estimating method for construction cost.The major results of this study are summarized as follows:First, the construction cost of reinforced concrete work. The factors which influence the construction cost of structural work are divided into quantitative factors and qualitative factors. Quantitative factors are the block grouping method, the cycle time per floor, the subcontracting method, the aseismatic structure type, the high-rise type, the uniti-size type, the roof-shape type, the starting period of construction, and the area per the unit. Qualitative factors are the site location, the shape of a site, conditions, and the quality level of the construction.Second, compared with the previous estmating method for construction cost reinforced concrete structural work of apartments, this study presents the optimal estimating method for construction cost which compromises direct labor cost, indirect labor cost, and material cost. Those costs are required for completing form works, concrete pouring, and fabrication and installation of reinforcing bar. Direct labor cost is determinedby required manpower based on the productivity of skilled labor and quantities of each activity, indirect labor cost depends on the indirect workforces according to required working days for each activity. This research also presents the procedural model of the estimating method for construction cost of reinforced concrete wall-slab type apartments.
