Abstract Multi-roofed buildings built before Choson Dynasty have not been found in Korea. Therefore this study was to analyzed the process of evolution in storied-frame system of multi-roofed buildings using ancient tomb frescoes and Buddhist paintings which indicate indirect architectural techniques of ancient buildings. This study also used data from ancient multi-roofed buildings in China.The overall purpose of this study was to ensure the storied-frame system performed with multi-roofed buildings of multi-cluster braket style in Chson Dynasty.The results of this analyses, the storied-frame system had been maintinanced from the type of storied-frame which called a hidden story till Koryo Danasty. The hidden storied-frame system changedthorough storied-frame system by way of the Yeoungjungjoo-construction which lower story and hidden story colums are connected with a member. The thorough storied-frame system succeeded to the Yeoungjungjoo-construction was formed a constructional technique within the multi roofed-buildings of Meang-Choung Dynasty in China.The multi storied-frame system was changed into a new type of the through storied-frame system in the last period of Korea Dynasty. And also in this period, the multi storied-frame system was combined the constructional method that the span of portal frames was expending with Go-joo frame system in one storyed-buildings. Therefore, the storied-frame system in multi-roofed buildings of the Choson dynasty was analyzed that formed a new type of constructional technique succded from the Korea Dynasty in Korea.
