A Study on the Selection of Structural System in High-Rise Building Design |
Abstract |
The objective of this study is to obtain a elementary data on design of High-Rise Concrete Buildings in terms of structural systems. Several structural systems were taken for comparing of their behavior characteristics -especially horizontal resistance capacity- and each systems was based on rigid frame, shear wall, tubular and outrigger truss structures. The parameter for a basic analysis are dynamic characteristic(period, participation factor, effective mass factor etc.), major system behavior, horizontal stiffness, base shear and lateral displacement. The change of structural system in high-rise buildings having similar design properties such as story, height, aspect ratio, core proportion vary their behavior and dynamic characteristics. Increasing horizontal stiffness, we can take many technique to decrease base shear and stresses due to lateral forces. |
