Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the local discomfort of the body by variations of draft temperature and velocity inflowing into a narrow space in floor panel heating system.Accordingly, this was accomplished with focusing on the change to the main physiological factors, namely, the cutaneous temperature, the cutaneous temperature variety rate and the relationship between the physiological factors and the local thermal sensation of the body by manufacturing experimental equipment suitable to the specific parts of the body.Results of this study are summarized as follows.The comfort zone of local thermal sensation was found when the cutaneous temperature dropt 1 C The cutaneous temperature variety rate was changed slowly at the draft temperature 16 CThe comfort zone according to the variety of draft temperature was 18-20 C in the part of the foot, 16-19 in the part of the knee and 15-18 C in the part of the calf.The comfort zone by draft temperature and temperature difference was found that temperature difference was -5~-2 C in the part of the foot, -6~-3 C in the part of the knee and -7~-4 C in the part of the calf.In case of the local thermal sensation, the physiological factors by each part of the body changed lower than the convection heating and the comfort zone was similar to it.
