Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Frame with Infill Wall |
Abstract |
In determining actual strength and stiffness of frame structure subjected to lateral forces, the importance of infill wall has been recognized for a long time. In spite of the studies during the last forty years, it is not yet generalized to include the infill wall as a structural element because its behavior is too complicated to produce and adequate theory. It is possible to promote the structural characteristics by adopting the infill wall which is effective for resisting lateral force in the frame and deriving the interaction of frame and shear wall. Infill walls change the stress patterns and modify the dynamic characteristics such as fundamental frequency.The purpose of this study is to understand fundamental resistance mechanism and stiffness of the frame with reinforced concrete infill wall by comparing analytical with experimental results. |
