The Signification of Columns in Le Corbusier`s Cubic Composition of 1920s. |
Abstract |
The "cubic composition" in architecture is conceived by Le Corbusier during 1920s. According to this conception, the architecr realized three major villas: Stein-de Monzie (1926-28), Baizeau(1927-30) and Savoye (1929-31). However, these villas are caracterized by architect's research for resolve the problems produced between open system of Dom-ino structure and close system of exterior form. It is significant therefore to fimd out how Le Corbusier developped his idea and what kind of results were obtained. This paper tries to answer those questions by studying the siginification of columns used in cubic composition. |
