Abstract This study inquires the architectural ideas of the architect Kim, Swoo Geun by the application of the Thomas Kuhn's Paradigm theory. The purpose of this research is to present a new method of the study on the theory of architect, and grasp the design characteristics and the history of the architecrural idea patternof Kim, Swoo Geun, and also make a consulation on both Modern Korean and Contemporary Korean Architecture.By applying the paradigm theory into the kim, Swoo Geun'sarchitectural world, the below results are concluded;1.During the first first typical architectural period, conventional and functional paradigm and national idelogy gave an infuence making the architectural form excessive and distorted.2.During the second typical architectural period, humanistic and naturalistic paradigm had more infuence on his architecture, thus making the intation and experience a more important factor and emphazising architectural public spirit based on the individual existentialism and thus making the architectural world of Kim, Swoo Geun a prosperous one.3.In the 1980's , During the third typical architectural period, after a long pursuit of, ego philosophy pursuit Kim, Swoo Geun expressed architectural diversity through the trial of escaping from his ego and the chaos of the contemporary international architecture.
